Did I ever tell you about the time we followed a massive flock of birds down to the Cowichan River, where they were feasting on a biblical plague of tent caterpillars. Standing under the big cottonwoods along the river, it sounded like a heavy rain as the caterpillars were falling from above. We were covered with them in minutes. Hours later we were still pulling them out of each others hair.
There was a great horror/sci-Fi B movie in the mid 70's called "Food Of The Gods". I think it was shot on Bowen Island? Anyway, it stars Marjoe Gortner, which is enough of a reason to see it, but there is also an awesome scene where a tent caterpillar about three feet long starts chewing on Ida Lupino's hand. She solves the problem with a meat cleaver. You would love it. Check it out if you can find it.

Uh.....? Tent caterpillars are gross?
kinda yes
It's just a moth larvae. You should see the ones living inside the cushions of your couch.
